Making an ImpactBeyond Singapore
Many overseas counterparts are often intrigued by how NUS — originating from the relatively young city-state of Singapore — evolved into a globally reputable institution.
A significant part of that answer lies in recognising the value of strategic investments and collaborations in promoting excellence in research and education, enabling new ideas, knowledge, and innovative solutions for global challenges.
Through partnerships with local governments in China, NUS has established research institutes that align with Singapore’s strategic goals across various regions in China, focusing on research, innovation, education, and enterprise, with the first one in Suzhou in 2011.
NUSRI China has since expanded its footprint to three additional cities — Fuzhou, Chongqing and Guangzhou.
With key research areas encompassing energy, environmental and urban sustainability, advanced materials, financial systems and risk management, and smart nation capabilities such as artificial intelligence and modern logistics, NUSRI China stands as NUS’ most established entity in advancing its research and enterprise initiatives beyond Singaporean shores.
Beyond research and innovation, NUSRI China also provides Chinese students with access to world-class education in Singapore, creating pathways for talent development and cross-border exchange and nurturing future-ready graduates for an increasingly complex world.
